Indian Fire Road

The Indian Fire Road Fuelbreak is sacred ground for the TFC.  It was the first project that proved that the Fuel Crew and eventually the Fire Crew concept was sound.  The project begins at the end of Crown Road in Kent Woodlands and continues up to Blithedale Ridge.  This fuelbreak protects the people of Kent Woodlands, Larkspur, and Mill Valley.   The fuelbreak was built by cutting hard chaparral, piling the brush, and burning when conditions are safe.  Map

Worn Springs Fire Road

The project begins at the end of Crest Road in Fairfax and continues up to north side of Bald Mountain above Ross.  This fuelbreak protects the people of Fairfax, San Anselmo, and Ross.   The fuelbreak was built by cutting hard chaparral , piling the brush, and burning when conditions are safe.  Acres of non-native species including French and Scotch broom were removed.  Map

Middle Peak Communication Site

Possibly the most important project the Crew worked on!  Although there are no homes near this project, the communication components on this mountain peak provide crucial infrastructure for emergency and day to day communications.  The Marin Emergency Radio Authority’s (MERA) new radio system has key components at this site.  Most cellular, television, and radio companies have some form of improvement up there as well.
